Don't paste content directly from MS Word or K-State Online
Word produces a lot of junk HTML code, which is very time-consuming to edit. A work-around is to paste content from Word into Notepad, and then paste it here -- which removes all the Word formatting. Any formatting (bold, colors, bullets) should be done within the wiki. |

In the latest issue, you mention that campus is moving to a new Central mail system. What is it that they are moving to? Are they setting up a Microsoft Exchange Server?
The University has selected Zimbra for e-mail services. The IT staff is working on purchasing
of this product for deployment within the next 12 months. Rebecca
Brandon Utech to TELLTUESDAY, March 24, 2008 Forwarded to Harvard for security article
I've got an IT Tuesday Feedback question for you:
What steps should K-State faculty and staff take to keep their office (and the technology within) from becoming a target of physical theft? We all know about locking doors, but what else can one do that might not be so obvious? For example, would leaving the lights on at night help or hinder? Where should various media containing information be stored during business hours and at night? Should everyone chain their computer to the wall?!?
Several staff from my department have been asking questions like the above lately, and I thought it might make a good newsletter topic.

Does anyone have a way to disable Quicktime's insistent spam about installing iTunes. At this time we do not have Quicktime on any of the

Is there a plan in place to put this video feed out in any other usable format?

Is the rec center expansion video available to view if you don't have proprietary software (Flash tm) installed on your computer?
Can I add the free Google Analytics tool on our department webpage so we can see our web traffic? Our department site is on K-State's central web server.
ANSWER ON HOLD: According to K-State's central webteam, you can add it but you might regret it. They don't recommend the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Analytics">Google Analytics</a> tool because it typically comes with pop-ups and other code when it's added to a site. Some K-State departments have added it and then removed it again.
NOTE: The central webteam doesn't want to imply that they support free tools like this. They said K-Staters are free to add things like this to their space on the central website. At issue is if there's problems, what users can do to resolve.
I missed the Paul Jones presentation Oct. 17. Is there a video archive of presentations?
I just purchased a new home computer with Vista. Whenever I try to open a QuickTime video, it says there's a buffer overrun and shuts down. I tried 1) uninstalling the Quick Time program, rebooting and downloading it again, and 2) downloading the most recent [VISTA? QUICKTIME?] updates, but still no success. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how was it fixed? I also downloaded the most recent updates, which were supposed to fix problems with the new QuickTime program, but still no success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do LISTSERV mailing lists treat eID@ksu.edu and eID@k-state.edu addresses the same? Does it matter which one I use as a subscriber? I sometimes send e-mail either way, as @ksu.edu or @k-state.edu.
I'm subscribed to a LISTSERV mailing list as @ksu.edu. If I reset my mail program to show my @k-state.edu address, can I still send e-mail to the list?
TREND MICRO DIAL-IN DOWNLOAD TIME: Do you realize that it takes upwards of three hours each time I update Trend Micro via dial-in? Do you have any other suggestions on how to handle?
