Summary

The Search Unleashed plugin creates a more powerful search engine than the default Wordpress engine. It also offers a number of options for customizing what gets searched, how its searched, and how it should be displayed.

Use

Under Tools > Search Unleashed exists the plugin settings page.

Within the settings there are four pages:

• The entrance page is just general information along with the re-indexing buttons.
• The "Log" page provides a log of all searches that have been done on the site, a link to the search results, the date the search was performed, and the IP address of the searcher.
• The "Modules" page shows all of the different sections of the site that can be indexed and provides options for a number of those parts. This is where parts of the site can be selected or deselected for inclusion in the search index.
• The "Options" page provides the primary search configuration options. Here highlighting can be configured, specific pages can be excluded, and the search mode can be altered.

Upgrade

There are no modifications to this plugin, so upgrading it is as simple as deactivating, replacing the files with the upgrade, and reactivating. After upgrading, the settings should be checked to verify that they have been restored and the search index should be checked. There is a chance that the search index will need to be recreated after upgrade by selecting the "re-index posts" button on the Search Unleashed options homepage.
