Summary

The WP-Polls plugin creates a polling suite for Wordpress. It allows the creation and management of polls. Polls can be added to the theme as a widget or added customly with the whole host of template tags the plugin comes with.

Use

This plugin creates its own admin tab for its interface. From Polls > Manage Polls polls can be viewed, edited, or deleted. When creating polls, the opening time for the poll can be set for a later date. When the poll opens, it will become available to the site. Similarly, end dates for polls can be set, which closes the poll disallowing users to submit entries.

At Polls > Poll Options there area a whole suite of options to modify the way polls look, how the function, the way they are logged, and to configure the polls archive page.

Lastly, Polls > Poll Templates offers a list of template tags and descriptions that can be used as a library for creating custom poll-related designs for the theme.

Overall, the plugin interface and options is pretty easy and intuitive to use. Keep in mind that if you want a poll to display in the widget, you must go to the widget after creating the poll and change it to the desired poll (the poll must also be "open" by this time or the poll will not display on the site).

Upgrade

There are no modifications to this plugin, so upgrading it is as simple as deactivating, replacing the files with the upgrade, and reactivating. Care should be taken to ensure the polls database is not damaged after the plugin has been updated.

WP-Polls plugin comes with a widget that has to be activated separately in the plugins interface. However, when upgrading, the two should upgrade together as a package (don't need to retrieve separate files for the widget).
